The SFMTA reported the issue at 9:07 am, reminiscent of past service breakdowns during peak commute hours, affecting downtown transportation and necessitating bus shuttles.
K, L, and M trains were forced to turn back at Castro, while J and N trains were redirected at Church and Duboce, causing widespread confusion.
Despite recent major disruptions being less frequent, the ongoing decline in ridership may have contributed to fewer reports of smaller service issues affecting commuters.
