Mum of Met Police officer's killer 'concerned' about 'unstable' son in prison
Briefly

Sgt. Mointy Ratana, a Met Police officer, was murdered by De Zoysa in 2020 during an altercation at a Croydon custody suite. Following the shooting incident, De Zoysa sustained severe brain damage and is currently imprisoned at Belmarsh. His mother, Elizabeth De Zoysa, is deeply concerned about his well-being and the facility’s capability to provide adequate care for his condition. She described him as emotionally unstable, largely non-verbal, and physically limited after his injury, emphasizing the need for more appropriate support and stimulation in prison.
Emotionally, he's unstable. I'm very concerned about him in Belmarsh. He doesn't seem to be coping with the prison system.
Belmarsh just doesn't have the capability to look after him. He's massively brain damaged, he's in a wheelchair, he's paralysed on his right side.
