Motorcyclist (20s) killed in crash in Abbeyleix, Co Laois

A man in his 20s died following a single-vehicle incident on the N77 at the junction of Portlaoise Road and Ballyroan Road. The body was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital. The scene is preserved for examination by forensic collision investigators. The road is closed with local diversions in effect. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, especially those with camera footage from between 7pm and 8pm. Separately, another man in his 20s was hospitalized with serious injuries after an e-scooter collision in Youghal.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact them. The man, in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the single-vehicle incident on the N77 at the junction of the Portlaoise Road and Ballyroan Road.
The road from Main Street in Abbeyleix to Tonduff Cross on the Portlaoise Road is closed and local diversions are in place. Anyone with information is asked to contact Abbeyleix Garda Station.
A young man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after his e-scooter was involved in a collision in Youghal. The rider of the scooter, a man in his 20s, was brought to Cork University Hospital for treatment.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses and have asked any road users with camera footage who were in the area at the time to make it available.
