A gruesome incident in Manhattan's Lower East Side led to the arrest of 24-year-old Christian Millet for allegedly stabbing his roommate, 65-year-old Edwin Echevarria, after a dispute over food. The altercation escalated violently, resulting in multiple stab wounds to Echevarria before Millet dismembered him and discarded parts of his body in the East River. A suitcase containing Echevarria's torso was later discovered by a ferry crew, prompting an investigation that led to Millet's arrest on second-degree murder charges.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Millet and Echevarria had become embroiled in an argument inside the residence over food.
Following the killing, Millet allegedly dismembered the senior before wrapping his torso in a sleeping bag and stuffing it in a suitcase.
