Director of Benham and Reeves, Marc von Grundherr, stated, "Road safety has always been a strong consideration when it comes to house hunting, and a busy road can be a put-off due to factors such as noise, congestion, and potential danger, especially for children. Homebuyers are now more aware of the issues related to living on a busy road, particularly pollution and the long-term health problems it can cause."
The research by Benham and Reeves revealed that British motorists traveled a staggering 330.8 billion miles last year, with the South East leading the regions with 52.8 billion miles.
Manchester leads as the area where motorists clock the most miles, totaling 11.4 billion last year, followed closely by the West Midlands with 10.3 billion miles.
Outside of England, Glasgow and Cardiff were highlighted for their road usage, with 2.2 billion miles driven in Glasgow and 2 billion miles in Cardiff annually.
