Shoaib Kochay, aged 22, was fatally struck by a vehicle, specifically a white Tesla, on July 1. Initially, police received reports of a fight nearby. Witnesses noted the presence of weapons before the incident involving the car. After sustaining life-changing injuries, Kochay died on July 9 at the hospital. Following the hit-and-run, the Tesla was located abandoned near Mount Road, leading to an extensive investigation. Authorities are seeking additional witnesses or footage concerning two white Teslas linked to the incident.
Detective Inspector Jon Moseling from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are very much with Shoaib's friends and family at this sad time and our investigation continues at pace to piece together what happened and to bring those responsible for Shoaib's death to justice."
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing for the area, emphasized: "I understand this incident is concerning, but we believe there is no wider threat to the public. My colleagues in the Specialist Crime Command are now carrying out a fast-paced and thorough investigation."
