Jarrod Hegarty, 32, faces serious charges including armed assault with intent to murder after allegedly shooting two men on Main Street in Fitchburg.
Witnesses and surveillance footage helped police identify Hegarty as the shooter; he surrendered early Monday morning after the Sunday night incident.
One victim, Joshua Bell, was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital with a single gunshot wound, while the second victim remains in critical condition.
Hegarty appeared in Fitchburg District Court the following day and pleaded not guilty to all the serious charges against him.
