Kings Road House / Matthew Giles Architects
Briefly

The transformation of the Edwardian house in South Park Gardens showcases a tactile and warm architectural detail, enhancing the street’s character through a modern interpretation of traditional brick homes.
Matthew Giles Architects reinterpreted local Victorian buildings by reinstating brickwork on all facades, shifting from white renderings, which restored the design principles of the South Park Gardens Conservation area.
New extensions and internal reconfigurations, highlighted by a full-width dormer and modern elements like a masonry canopy, provide both aesthetic improvement and increased living space for the family.
The careful articulation of heavy masonry and poured in-situ concrete creates a unified, inviting front elevation, while chamfered edges throughout the home draw the eye and minimize neighbor impact.
