Saud al-Qahtani, a key suspect in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, has had his suspended account on X reinstated, raising questions about the reasoning behind it.
The US intelligence assessment revealed that Qahtani had direct involvement in Khashoggi's murder, as the operation was approved by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Despite being sanctioned by the US treasury for his involvement, Qahtani's account reactivation on X could be part of a wider reinstatement strategy by Elon Musk or an error.
The previous suspension of Qahtani's account in 2019 was officially due to violations of platform rules, leaving his unexpected reactivation open to speculation.
