Justin Peck, resident choreographer at the New York City Ballet, is currently managing his time between two major projects: his new ballet production Mystic Familiar and co-choreographing the Broadway musical Buena Vista Social Club with his wife Patricia Delgado. Amidst this hectic schedule, he values cooking as a therapeutic outlet, often choosing protein-rich breakfasts to fuel his days. Peck enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, citing cooking as a creative process, and appreciates its meditative nature, which helps him balance family life and artistic commitments in New York City.
Cooking allows me to be creative and therapeutic, especially as I navigate between multiple projects and family life. It's both relaxing and inspiring.
With becoming a parent, I've shifted my diet towards more protein-heavy breakfasts instead of my previous bagel-laden mornings, adapting to my new routines.
The freedom in cooking lets me experiment. I'll read many recipes for guidance but then improvise my own variations, which is more practical and enjoyable.
