"Subscriptions are the first step," Bluesky's CEO Jay Graber told Wired last week in an interview.
The platform has seen a massive rise in users and a more than 500 percent increase in usage in the United States in the past few months.
Bluesky began in 2019 as a research initiative at Twitter, now called X, and became an independent company in 2021.
However, bets on paid subscription-based models have not paid off for other social media companies.
