Instagram videos with higher popularity are presented in better quality, whereas less popular videos are displayed in lower quality, according to head Adam Mosseri.
In a video shared by The Verge, Mosseri stated that Instagram aims to showcase "the highest-quality video possible," but less engaging videos may be downgraded.
Mosseri acknowledged that the performance system operates at an aggregate level—it's a "sliding scale" and not a binary threshold for quality adjustments.
Despite concerns, Mosseri suggested that smaller creators shouldn't worry excessively as video quality won't significantly affect viewer engagement.
