“As a former small business owner, I know that women, minority, and LGBT-owned businesses are critical assets to our economic growth and empowerment of our community,” said Lee at the small business roundtable. She emphasized that it is essential to continue advocating for the resources and policies that bolster these small businesses, especially in areas where many Black and Brown businesses operate, as these entities form the backbone of the economy.
During the panel discussion, titled 'Together We Rise: Advocating for Black Women and Girls', Rep. Lee acknowledged the progress made by Black women and girls in various fields but insisted that more needs to be done. 'It is crucial to remain vigilant and continue fighting for true equity and justice,' she said, stressing the significance of awareness in this ongoing struggle.
