Health Professional or Influencer?

When health professionals engage in social media, they must consider their online presence an extension of their consulting room, treating it with the same ethical standards.
AHPRA provides guidelines for personal social media use by registered health professionals but lacks explicit ethics for public-facing professional accounts, highlighting a gap in social media regulation.
The informal nature of social media poses risks, as health professionals may inadvertently abandon their ethics, succumbing to the influencer culture that undermines professional integrity.
We propose that health professionals should critically assess their social media behavior: if it's not appropriate in the office, it shouldn't be online either.
