A shooting incident occurred near the Canadian border when US Border Patrol officers conducted a vehicle check on Interstate 91. The driver, Teresa Youngblut, fired upon the officers after the vehicle was stopped, leading to an exchange of gunfire that left both a Border Patrol officer and a German citizen, Felix B., dead. The FBI had been surveilling them for days, and Youngblut, who was injured, faces two counts related to the assault. An investigation into the circumstances of the shooting is ongoing.
According to court documents, about 15 minutes after the vehicle was stopped, the female driver of the vehicle exited the car, pulled out a handgun and opened fire without warning.
Youngblut, who is shot and injured, will be brought before a US federal judge on Monday, facing serious charges related to the assault.
