Asif William Rahman, 34, pleaded guilty to two counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information related to national defense, facing 10 years in prison.
Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen emphasized that the Justice Department is determined to aggressively prosecute those who unlawfully disclose national security information.
Rahman had been a CIA employee since 2016, possessing a Top-Secret security clearance, and was arrested in Cambodia after allegations of leaking sensitive military documents.
The leaked documents revealed Israel's preparations for a military strike against Iran in response to an escalating conflict linked to recent regional tensions.
