As humans leveraging the Internet, we encounter both valuable information and absurd conspiracies. Shelter may not be as beneficial as we assume for children.
In a study involving 122 children aged 4 to 7, it was found that early exposure to misinformation actually encouraged thorough fact-checking in later scenarios.
Those exposed to false claims earlier in the study were more likely to fact-check subsequent claims, suggesting that encountering false information can be a learning tool.
Allowing children to engage with incorrect information can foster critical thinking skills, better preparing them to discern truth in a world full of misinformation.
