DnA's Xu Tiantian Unveils her Comprehensive Design Process in CCA's Groundwork Debut: 'Into the Island'
Briefly

"We are living in a moment in which the capacity of the architect to be an agent of change, being able to shape, is limited by different factors, such as speculations and different forms of regulation, which are impacting their capacity in a moment of ecological collapse. I think whether we actually have to be actors or not is very urgent to refract upon and debate, how do we intervene or what do we do with our existing building stock and with what we have?" - Francesco Garutti.
"Groundwork" is not just about showcasing architectural feats; it's about delving deeper into the motivations of architects who are responding to urgent ecological and social crises through innovative design and community engagement.
The project also highlights the challenges that come with creating sustainable architecture within the constraints of existing practices and financial pressures that often prioritize profit over holistic solutions.
Following three renowned architects, the CCA provides a reflective look at their field research and engagement with communities, aiming to inspire a paradigm shift in architectural practice.
