On January 15, at 2pm, police searching for a missing person discovered a dead body in the Grand Union Canal near the towpath between Alperton and Park Royal.
The body found is yet to be formally identified, and it remains unclear whether it belongs to the missing person the police were searching for.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are in contact with the next of kin while investigations into the circumstances of the death continue.
Heavy police presence has been reported around the canal area, with ongoing investigations by officers from the North West BCU into the cause and circumstances of this death.
