The lawsuit filed by D.C. attorney general Brian Schwalb's office alleges that Amazon excluded two zip codes from its fastest Prime delivery service without informing customers.
According to the suit, nearly half of the population of the zip codes are Amazon Prime subscribers, yet they have been receiving slower delivery times since mid-2022.
The AG's office described these neighborhoods as 'underserved' by traditional retail, highlighting the inequity faced by residents who continue to pay for services they do not receive.
Amazon is charged with offering the same Prime services for payment while failing to provide the advertised two-day shipping benefits to residents in the affected zip codes.
