DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME | WHEN TO CHANGE THE CLOCKS IN LONDON
Briefly

As autumn approaches, the UK prepares to switch from British Summer Time (BST) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on Sunday, October 29, 2023. This shift, established in 1916, extends evening daylight during summer months and is influenced by the ideas of William Willett. The transition is commonly remembered with the phrase 'spring forward, fall back'. While many devices will update automatically, manual adjustments will be necessary for non-smart clocks and watches, marking a bittersweet end to the summer season.
The changing of clocks, also known as Daylight Saving Time, allows us an extra hour of daylight in the evenings during the spring and summer months.
In the UK, Daylight Saving Time was formally introduced in 1916 when Parliament passed the Summer Time Act as a result of campaigning by William Willett.
The clocks will go back one hour on Sunday 29th October 2023 at 2am, rolling back to 1am, allowing an extra hour in bed.
Many devices that have internet connection automatically update their clocks, but manual updates are needed for digital clocks and watches.
