The deadline for federal workers to accept the White House's deferred resignation offer has been postponed due to ongoing litigation. A federal judge's ruling is pending, which favors the union opposing the offer. This postponement grants federal employees additional time to consider resigning as more than 65,000 have signaled intent to resign. There are legal concerns about the offer's legitimacy, which the White House denies, asserting that it's entirely lawful. In addition, many agencies have paused processing resignations to respect the process during this legal uncertainty.
We believe at the end of the day the judge in this case will side with us,” said Everett Kelley. “The way this program was rolled out was unlawful, and it needs to be done right.
So far more than 65,000 federal workers have indicated they plan on resigning, according to the Office for Personnel Management.
The 'buyout' deal went out last month to all federal workers in an email titled 'A fork in the road.'
