The recent State of the Center City report highlights a significant rebound in office attendance in uptown and South End Charlotte, reaching nearly 81% of pre-pandemic levels. This resurgence is attributed to employer mandates and the desire among younger employees for in-office experiences that foster professional growth. Additionally, amidst ongoing concerns over quality of life in the city, the reinstatement of certain ordinances to address public safety has sparked discussions about their impact on the homeless population. Over 3,200 apartments are also under construction, indicating ongoing urban development.
Younger associates, want to professionally develop, they want to learn from some of the other people that might have more experience, they want to learn with others that are in their cohort.
Addressing public safety is incredibly complicated, but it is foundational. We are making several moves, including the restoration of quality-of-life ordinances, which we believe will collectively make the center city safer.
