Jack Sweeney, known for his accounts tracking celebrity private jets, expressed his frustration over Meta’s suspension of several of his accounts, likening it to past experiences on Twitter.
An unnamed Meta spokesperson explained the rationale for suspending the accounts: 'Given the risk of physical harm to individuals, and in keeping with the independent Oversight Board's recommendation, we've disabled these accounts for violating our privacy policy.'
Sweeney noted that a previous account tracking Taylor Swift's jet was deactivated after she threatened legal action over alleged stalking and harassment, showing the pressures celebrities exert on social media platforms.
The suspended accounts displayed a message stating, 'The link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed', indicating a lack of transparency in Meta's actions.
