A two-alarm fire ignited in multiple manholes at 76 Remsen St. around noon, spreading to a car and a fourth-floor apartment, displacing many residents.
According to Deputy Chief Tom Crowley, more than 100 firefighters were deployed to ensure the safety of residents, going door-to-door in nearby buildings.
Lucky for everyone, there were no injuries reported despite the scale of the fire and the explosions that startled residents, revealing the alarming nature of the incident.
Resident Laura Jackson described experiencing several loud explosions and flickering lights throughout her apartment, reflecting the panic and chaos of the unfolding situation.
