Brooklyn Public Library co-hosts first-ever Day of Action against book banning
Briefly

The BPL, Queens Public Library and New York Public Library are championing the Freedom to Read Community Day of Action as a direct response to the surge in censorship in school and public libraries nationwide.
The number of book bans in the U.S. reached an all-time high in 2023, with attempts to restrict access in 49 states, per the latest data published by the ALA.
Supporters are encouraged to use the hashtag #FreedomToRead to make their voices against censorship heard and stand with public and school libraries.
Ariel Polanco will host special guests including Professor Eric Klinenberg, author of 'Palaces for the People;' Lee Rowland of the ACLU; and Brooklyn Deputy Borough President Kim Council.
