A significant fire incident occurred at the Manhasset Bay Marina in Port Washington early Wednesday, where two yachts caught fire. Firefighters responded to the scene at approximately 12:30 a.m. Although the first yacht was unoccupied, the blaze quickly spread to an adjacent yacht, leading to injuries. A 58-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation and was hospitalized, while firefighters managed to contain the fire after nearly two hours despite the freezing conditions. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities.
Firefighters were first called to Manhasset Bay Marina in Port Washington around 12:30 a.m. to a 43-foot Marine Trader yacht that was completely engulfed in flames.
The blaze quickly spread to a 42-foot Post boat docked in the adjacent slip, and a 58-year-old man on the second boat was taken to a local hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
