Antioch: Georgia-Pacific workers agree to contract, end strike after almost a month
Briefly

After more than three weeks on strike, workers at the Georgia-Pacific gypsum plant have reached an agreement that includes a significant wage increase and retroactive pay.
Christian Ortega, a Local 6 representative, highlighted that the new contract will raise entry-level wages from $27.60 to approximately $29.25 an hour, acknowledging varied roles within the plant.
Despite mixed reactions among union members regarding the agreement, Ortega emphasized that the outcome was positive: "We gained 6% for the first year, so we're going in with a plus."
Ortega remarked on the nature of strikes, stating, "At the end of the day, no one wins in a strike;... both sides reached an agreement to resume work and put this behind us."
