American Airlines is testing new technology that flags passengers boarding with the wrong group, enhancing the boarding process and overall experience according to spokesperson Andrea Koos.
The new system at several airports provides audible signals when a passenger boards incorrectly, improving the boarding experience and helping gate agents manage the process more efficiently.
In addition to American, Southwest Airlines is also changing its boarding procedures by introducing assigned seating and providing seat maps during the booking process.
Southwest will maintain its boarding position system but will prioritize higher fare purchasers while allowing customers to select seats with legroom options.
