Amazon accused of targeting Coventry union members after failed recognition vote
Briefly

Amazon is being accused by the GMB trade union of targeting 60 union members at its Coventry warehouse with disciplinary actions after narrowly defeating a recognition vote last summer. Many workers have reported significant changes to productivity targets and non-productive time assessments, leading to confusion and strict disciplinary measures. A GMB survey showed 81% of union members were unhappy at Amazon, with concerns that the company is purging perceived troublemakers in an effort to secure new government contracts. Amanda Gearing from GMB criticized Amazon's response to union activity.
Amazon is one of the globe's wealthiest corporations, taking revenge against their own workers for daring to stand up for better pay and safer conditions, Gearing said.
The number of disciplinary actions had increased significantly since the ballot and Amazon was clearing out what they see as troublemakers as it tried to win new government contracts.
