Several attorneys associated with IP Edge, a patent monetization firm, are being referred to disciplinary authorities for directing individuals to undertake liabilities associated with patent litigation without disclosing IP Edge's interests.
Chief Judge Colm Connolly of the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware deemed the scheme to be outrageous and appropriate for referral to disciplinary authorities.
IP Edge purchased patents from France Brevets and assigned them to LLCs created at their direction, then conducted lawsuits using those LLCs as plaintiffs.
