After Closure due to Hurricane Damage, the Rothko Chapel Announces Reopening Date
Briefly

The Rothko Chapel, a Houston landmark, has announced its reopening on December 17th, healing from Hurricane Beryl, and offering renewed access to its meditative space.
Following extensive damage from Hurricane Beryl, the Chapel’s reopening signifies not only a restoration of its structure but also a profound return to a communal sanctuary for reflection.
Initially closed due to severe damage, the Rothko Chapel involved teams of conservators and volunteers to ensure the building and art were meticulously restored to their former glory.
A unique space for spiritual reflection, the Rothko Chapel opened in 1971 and showcases Rothko’s monumental canvases, framed by architectural collaborations of Howard Barnstone and Eugene Aubry.
