Greg Westergaard, CEO of Alpha Genesis, stated, "It's kind of like follow-the-leader; one goes out and there's, like, a mad dash," referring to the escape of 43 rhesus monkeys.
Gregory Alexander, chief of police, reassured residents about the monkeys, stating, "They are not likely to be aggressive toward humans. They are very young females who each weigh less than 10 pounds."
David Paul Murray, a town council member, noted the town's familiarity with such escapes, saying, "It's something you don't really think about until one runs across the road."
