A 636-square-foot guesthouse in Austin has been transformed through a major renovation led by architect Harmony Grogan from Pluck Architecture. The remodel focused on maximizing space and improving the cramped kitchen by utilizing clever design techniques and color. The updated kitchen features custom cabinetry, scaled-down high-end appliances, and a bold color palette that harmonizes with the neighborhood's aesthetic, showcasing a blend of modern and vintage charm while greatly improving functionality in a previously dark and confined area.
This is the smallest kitchen I've done before. We leaned into: How do we make this work, but at the same time do it well both aesthetically and architecturally?
We wanted to make sure it felt like it fit the vernacular. There’s a lot of color in this neighborhood with the older bungalows.
