Fyre Fest 2 looking like 'new disaster' after host country denies knowledge of event: expert
Briefly

Fyre Festival 2, which was initially planned for Isla Mujeres, Mexico, faces skepticism after local authorities in Playa del Carmen denied having any information regarding the event. Billy McFarland, the festival's creator, previously served time for financial fraud related to the failed 2017 festival. As he attempts to plan a revival, the official statement from Playa del Carmen highlights their commitment to public safety. McFarland's recent press conference included local government representatives, yet doubts linger about the legitimacy of Fyre Festival 2.
"After a thorough review, there is no record or planning of any such event in the municipality," Playa del Carmen said. "This government acts responsibly and with a commitment to safety, public order, and social harmony."
"I'd like to thank all of my partners for making this happen. ... I'd also like to thank the special guests in the audience. We have special representatives from the Secretary of Tourism, Secretary of Economy, the Secretary of Security and Civil Protection," McFarland said in his opening statement.
