Why we need to measure people's well-being - lessons from a global survey
Briefly

Flourishing, a state where all areas of life are thriving, should be the primary objective for individuals and nations. However, research on flourishing is lacking due to challenges in data collection and analysis. Existing measures like GDP fail to capture subjective well-being, while the UN's Sustainable Development Goals overlook personal assessments. To promote policies that support flourishing, countries need robust systems for collecting and analyzing well-being data. Early findings from the Global Flourishing Study highlight the necessity for governments to enhance their efforts in this area.
The goal of flourishing is to achieve a state where all facets of life, from personal happiness to community well-being, are thriving.
Research on flourishing is inadequate; infrastructure to collect comprehensive data on well-being and its determinants is lacking globally.
