Our Company's New Team Support Space
"Given everything that's happening in the world right now, upper management have decided that we in middle management needed to create a space of support. And so, we have gathered here today, on Zoom, to support you, our hardworking teammates, in this brand-new meeting series we are calling "Team Support Space." It's a lot out there right now. So many bad things are happening every day."
"In that global context, community is vital. During times like these, we, your colleagues, are here for you. If you come away from this meeting with only one thing, make it this: No matter where you sit on the political spectrum or what your beliefs are, this organization welcomes and supports each and every one of you. We support you so much that we are specifically allocating valuable company time to do so."
Upper and middle management launched a Zoom meeting series called Team Support Space to provide company-funded emotional and peer support. The meeting acknowledges widespread anxiety, fear, and hate and emphasizes community as vital during current global challenges. The organization affirms welcome and support for employees across the political spectrum and allocates company time specifically for employee wellbeing. Employee-experience and middle management established ground rules and three simple frameworks to protect psychological safety, guide sharing, and help participants avoid detailed political stances while discussing stressors.
