Due to a red weather warning, all non-urgent health services, including outpatient appointments and community care services, are canceled for Friday. Only emergency services will continue to operate, although critical time-sensitive treatments will be handled directly by the treating unit. The priority remains on ensuring safety for patients, families, and staff, and support for vulnerable individuals in the community will be provided as needed during the emergency period. HSE chief Bernard Gloster emphasized the importance of maintaining essential services while regretting the significant impact on non-urgent care.
A red weather warning means everyone should stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and take action to protect themselves and their properties.
Our priority is to keep our patients, their families and our staff safe and unfortunately this requires us to postpone services for the day.
We regret any impact this has on our patients and their families. It is important to say that we are doing all we can to ensure continuity of critical emergency services.
Supports to vulnerable people at home in the community will be prioritised on an urgent needs basis during the hours of restricted travel.
