The survey highlights a significant challenge as 61% of GPs nationwide are unable to take on new patients amidst ongoing pressures from seasonal illnesses and population growth.
Dr. Denis McCauley stated, 'Patients will continue to face challenges in getting appointments or being accepted by general practice as the system grapples with unprecedented demand.'
Of the surveyed GPs, 79 reported a full patient roster, with nearly three-quarters indicating they could not accept additional patients on their waiting lists.
Regional disparities exist, with some areas displaying a majority of GPs accepting new patients, while others, particularly in Dublin's northside, reflect a critical shortage.
