Regional Medical Center in San Jose is reversing its decision to close its trauma center and downgrade other life-saving programs, following community backlash and a reassessment of healthcare needs in East San Jose.
The hospital will now downgrade the trauma center to Level III, retain cardiologists 24/7 for the STEMI program, and ensure the stroke program can cater to 97% of patients, transferring the rest to other providers if needed.
