Ticketmaster says it will display fees more clearly as Biden-era 'junk fee' rule takes effect
Briefly

The Biden administration's ban on junk fees, aimed at enhancing price transparency, has taken effect, prompting Ticketmaster to display full ticket prices as soon as consumers begin shopping. This initiative, enforced by the Federal Trade Commission, also applies to hotels and rental platforms requiring clear disclosure of additional charges. Ticketmaster expressed support for the FTC's action, advocating for all-in pricing as a standard across ticketing platforms to facilitate price comparison for consumers. The changes will bring North America in line with global practices regarding ticket pricing visibility.
Ticketmaster has long advocated for all-in pricing to become the nationwide standard so fans can easily compare prices across all ticketing sites.
The new rule requires ticket sellers, hotels, vacation rental platforms and others to disclose processing fees, cleaning fees and other charges up front.
Ticketmaster said it will also tell customers where they are in line when they log in to buy tickets, providing real-time updates.
Monday's changes would bring North America in line with the rest of the world, where full ticket prices are typically displayed from the start.
