Justin Thomas-Copeland has officially taken over as CEO of the 4As, transitioning with outgoing CEO Marla Kaplowitz. Thomas-Copeland, who previously founded Kindrd Global and has held high-profile roles in various agencies, discusses the challenges facing the advertising industry, particularly the tension between automation and the need for human talent. He stresses that while technology is crucial, it will not replace the necessity for skilled professionals. He intends to enhance existing talent programs in response to the evolving demands of the industry.
Talent's never going to go away in my mind. I read a couple of articles this last weekend about things being automated at scale, at pace, but I don't believe there's going to be a fully automated ad industry.
Brands and businesses need people, people in the right spots really doing the right types of work, models with agencies that are really complementary.
