Anthropic has launched a search function for its AI chatbot, Claude, available to paid U.S. users in a feature preview. This new functionality allows Claude to access and incorporate up-to-date information from the web into its responses, complete with source citations for verification. While the feature currently supports Claude 3.7 Sonnet, plans are in place to roll it out to free users and internationally. This entry into AI-powered search raises concerns for traditional publishers, who are seeing drastically reduced referral traffic compared to conventional search methods.
Anthropic is making its long-awaited move into the search arena with its flagship AI chatbot, Claude.
Claude can now search the web. Each response includes inline citations, so you can also verify the sources.
AI search bots send an average of 95.7% less referral traffic to publishers than traditional Google search.
The shift has caused issues for publishers, as unlike traditional search engines, these platforms are driving significantly less traffic.
