The growing trend of beauty filters is leading to serious concerns about the mental health of users, particularly among teenagers who experience low self-worth from online comparisons.
A study conducted revealed that the impact of filtered images on social media may negatively impact mental health even more than exposure to violence, according to Prof Sonia Livingstone.
Dr Claire Pescott noted that the pressures from online social comparisons among young users are being underestimated, as many children express distress about their appearance after viewing filtered images.
