"Omnicom began absorbing its former rival Interpublic Group (IPG) this week with a swath of redundancies up and down the org chart. Among the 4,000 people cut loose across the globe were Susan Credle, global chief creative officer of FCB until last year and most recently global creative advisor for IPG, and Eileen Kiernan, previously the global CEO of IPG Mediabrands (Kiernan didn't respond to a request for comment)."
"Omnicom's newly enlarged media business carries a number of unknowns, especially considering Wren's statements that more announcements about the company's structure and leadership are set to come. The group will include seven businesses including Omnicom's existing media houses OMD, PHD and Hearts & Science, IPG's shops Initiative, UM and Mediahub and its data broker Acxiom. It's notable that Acxiom sits in the media unit, and not with operating platform Omni, which moved under Painter's control a few months ago."
Omnicom began absorbing Interpublic Group (IPG) and eliminated roughly 4,000 positions worldwide, including senior figures Susan Credle and Eileen Kiernan. Only two former IPG executives, Philippe Krakowsky and Jacki Kelley, received roles in Omnicom’s new C-suite. Several senior roles were assigned to long-standing Omnicom executives such as Troy Ruhanen and Duncan Painter, reflecting CEO John Wren’s reliance on trusted lieutenants. Omnicom consolidated seven media businesses under a single media unit, combining OMD, PHD, Hearts & Science, Initiative, UM, Mediahub and data broker Acxiom. Acxiom was placed in the media unit rather than the Omni operating platform. Industry observers expect further structural changes.
