Marlena Velez, a 22-year-old TikTok influencer, was arrested for shoplifting after she allegedly stole over $500 worth of goods from Target, broadcasting her haul to followers.
Police were able to connect Velez to the shoplifting incident when an anonymous tipster recognized her from her social media profile, which included a video of her in the store.
In a TikTok video titled 'Day in the life as a mom,' Marlena documents herself shopping at Target on the same day she had committed the theft.
Despite not explicitly showing the theft, police pieced together evidence from Velez's clothing, the date of her video posting, and the items seen in her footage.
