Helping to shape and launch several of my company's community organizations such as our NextGen Young Professionals Group and Women's Network has been a rewarding part of my career. Mentorship and community have been such important parts of my professional growth, so I wanted to create opportunities to connect others within Robins & Morton. In developing these groups, I was able to work with team members directly to identify tangible needs in our organization and create programming and a structure to help those team members. The initiatives are still new, but I am excited to see how they continue to grow and support young professionals and women in construction moving forward.
As a recovering people-pleaser and perfectionist, I have had to learn that mistakes happen. You may make the wrong call about a messaging goal, or a campaign may not be as well received as you anticipated. Those things happen, and you can't control everything, so I choose to see them as learning moments. Each misstep or disappointment has either taught me or been a launching point for something greater than I could have imagined.
My career goal is less about titles and more about process improvement and leaving our industry better for those who come after me. If I can influence small but meaningful changes that advance our profession, I will see that as a great success.
With the introduction of new technology, many organizations are shrinking their marketing and public relations budgets and teams, while expectations surrounding skill diversity continue to grow. Many hiring managers are looking for marketing and communications team members who are experts in writing, design, video, and more.
