Unusual winter heat spike breaks L.A. temperature records
Briefly

Southern California witnessed an unusually warm winter week breaking five temperature records as highs soared 15 degrees above normal, with Downtown Los Angeles and Long Beach reaching 88 degrees. However, forecasters caution that this warm spell is short-lived, with forecasts signaling a dramatic cooldown with lows returning to winter-like conditions. Multiple cold fronts are expected to arrive, reversing this week's heat, and continuing the trend of weather extremes across the region this winter, following a series of dry spells and wet storms.
The upcoming cold front is but the latest example of weather whiplash the Southland has been experiencing this winter.
We're going to be really right back in winter here the next couple of days with two or three pretty cold low-pressure systems coming.
