However, forecasters caution that this warm spell is short-lived, with forecasts signaling a dramatic cooldown with lows returning to winter-like conditions. Multiple cold fronts are expected to arrive, reversing this week's heat, and continuing the trend of weather extremes across the region this winter, following a series of dry spells and wet storms.
The upcoming cold front is but the latest example of weather whiplash the Southland has been experiencing this winter.
