David Anthony Burke, a 21-year-old rapper, was arrested on suspicion of murdering 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. Her dismembered body was discovered in a car registered to him. The police found two black bags in the vehicle, one containing a decomposed head and torso. An autopsy indicated that Rivas had been deceased for an extended period before discovery. Burke's lawyers claim he is innocent and will defend him vigorously. The LA County District Attorney's office will review the case for formal charges.
