The fire was reported at 12:38 a.m. at 744 Alta Vista Road in Tamalpais Valley. Fire crews encountered advanced fire conditions with a significant amount of smoke and flames coming from the building.
Firefighters found the deceased resident in a rear bedroom of the 1,192-square-foot house, while four dogs were able to survive the incident. The fire was contained within 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and the Battalion Chief indicated that the fire led to major damage in the rear bedroom and created moderate heat and smoke damage throughout the home.
